Overview
Kenya puts classic safari, white-sand beaches and a major business city within a short flight of each other. The Maasai Mara and Amboseli are reachable by road or a scheduled flight from Nairobi, so a three-day safari is realistic, and Diani is about an hour’s flight away.
That makes it one of the easiest countries in Africa to combine: a safari and a beach stay in one week, a game drive between meetings in Nairobi, or a family holiday with short transfers. Resident rates help Kenyan citizens and residents travel for less.

Getting there
International flights land at Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO) in Nairobi. Moi International (MBA) in Mombasa serves the coast.
Getting around
Scheduled safari flights from Wilson Airport; domestic flights to Mombasa and Ukunda; the Madaraka Express train; safari vehicles with driver-guides.
Money
Kenyan shilling (KES). M-Pesa and cards are widely accepted. Park fees for non-residents are usually quoted in USD.
Entry requirements
These depend on your passport. Many visitors need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travel; citizens of most African countries are exempt. Our visa centre checks yours.
Luggage
Light-aircraft safari flights usually allow about 15 kg per person, in soft-sided bags, including hand luggage.
Health
Vaccination and malaria advice depends on your route. Speak to a travel clinic a few weeks before you travel.
