Yes. Kenya appears on the UK's visa national list in Appendix Visitor of the Immigration Rules, which means a visa must be obtained before travelling to the UK as a visitor. The relevant route for tourism, business visitor activities and family visits is the Standard Visitor visa, applied for online on GOV.UK before you travel.

Kenya is not covered by the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation scheme, so an ETA is not an alternative to the visa. Check the official GOV.UK guidance ↗

Yes — South Africa is one example among the destinations we currently maintain. Kenya appears on the South African Department of Home Affairs list of countries exempt from visa requirements, at 90 days per annum for ordinary passport holders travelling for visit purposes.

Exemption is not the same as unconditional entry: it applies to visit purposes, immigration officers still assess each traveller at the port of entry, and other purposes such as work or study require the relevant visa. Check the official exemption list ↗

This depends entirely on the destination, and we will not quote a general rule because there isn't a reliable one. As an example of how specific these rules are, the UAE government portal states that passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the UAE — other authorities set different periods, and some also specify blank pages or passport condition.

Check the passport validity rule published by the authority for your specific destination before you book, and check it again before you travel if your passport is approaching expiry.

Sometimes — and we will only tell you yes where the official source for your destination confirms it. Supporting documents such as onward travel evidence, accommodation details, proof of funds, employment letters and travel medical insurance are commonly requested, but they are not universally mandatory and the specific requirement varies by destination, route and application category.
