Overview
A multi-city trip links two or more European countries, often with the UK and the Schengen area in the same itinerary. It suits longer holidays, honeymoons, graduation trips and first visits to Europe.
The routing is what makes it work: trains are often faster than flying between neighbouring cities, and open-jaw flights — into one city and home from another — avoid backtracking. If the UK is included you need two visas, so we plan the order and timing of the applications.

Multi-city Europe: good to know
How many countries can I fit in?
Two or three countries in ten nights is comfortable; four in two weeks. More than that means more time travelling than seeing.
Do I need more than one visa?
If your trip includes the UK and Schengen countries, yes — two separate applications. Schengen-only trips need one visa.
Is the train better than flying?
Between neighbouring cities, often yes: city-centre to city-centre with less waiting. We compare both for each leg.
When is the best time to go?
April to June and September to October, when the weather is good and prices are lower than in midsummer.
What is an open-jaw ticket?
A return flight into one city and out of another, so you do not have to backtrack to your starting point.
